The Lion Inn is situated at Blakey Ridge on Danby High Moor - the highest point on the North York Moors. It dates from 1553 when it was originally built & inhabited by Monks
who transported coffins across the Moors to Whitby Abbey. Later it was popular with the "jaggers" who were in charge of the trains of
